My dad is my biggest supporter
The person that has had the biggest impact on my life would definitely be my dad. I can always relate to my dad, more so than with my mom, but don’t get me wrong, I love her too. He often spoils me, but he always pushed me to work hard in all aspects of my life, whether that be sports or school. When I was younger I felt like he was being too hard on me by pushing me to do all these things, but I began to realize that he was just trying to instill good habits in me, saying that it’s easier to start with a good habit than try to correct a bad one. He has always supported me, no matter what, and will always hear me out, being really understanding and compassionate. Even when I did something bad, he wouldn’t scold me, but rather try to teach me a lesson by asking what I could learn from my mistakes. Through these lessons he taught me to look forward in life and learn, as opposed to constantly look back on my mistakes. He was the one who encouraged me to go out for basketball, my favorite sport. He also helped me apply to colleges, which was challenging because we live in Japan. My dad is my biggest supporter and I am so thankful to have him in my life. I don’t think I would be here at SPU without him pushing me in his encouraging way.
