They strongly supported transfer students' needs and credits
My transition from Trinity Lutheran College to SPU has been rough. I'm the type of girl who is more of a homebody and I love serving in my community. While I attended Trinity in Everett it was a perfect ten minute commute from my home. Unfortunately, when half of the student body and I couldn't graduate, it warped the plans I had for the future. The assistance from Trinity and other colleges, including SPU, was incredible; they strongly supported transfer students' needs and credits. SPU greatly accepted most of my credits and gave us certain exceptions and shortcuts when enrolling in their school. Therefore, I transferred to SPU as a junior. As an older person when I moved into the dorms it was difficult to be friends with younger students and transferring in when there's relationships already built. I made friends, some who transferred just like me, and connections I can relate to. I have taken a two quarter break, returning back in the Fall as a senior with two quarters left. The Trinity foundation offered scholarships to those who couldn't finish and those who were entering seminary after the school shut down and I've been blessed to receive this scholarship both years. I was determined to graduate in my anticipated year. However, taking a mental break for myself has been easier and with the support from my advisors, scholarship committees, church, friends, and family. I will be returning and graduating next year to fulfill God’s plan for me, whatever that may be.
