Be a light in a dark room
I was born into a Christian home, with loving parents who had dedicated me to Christ at birth. In public school it was difficult for me to find genuine friends. I moved to private school in hopes of something different. The year before I switched from public to private school was the year I made the public declaration of baptism. I was overjoyed to have finally made my faith my own, a part of my identity. Even though I attended a Christian school, I felt like I was still searching for a genuine connection. It seemed as though people were just better at hiding who they were. However, I knew during this time I always had God. I am grounded in Him. I want to be known for my loving spirit, and my heart to listen to others.
One thing I love about SPU is the community. As a Residence Hall Ministry Coordinator, I have the ability to serve the very community that I am also a part of. I want everyone to see they can have an impact on the people around them.
One piece of advice that I would give my younger self is not to be afraid to express who you are. Be yourself. Spread Jesus in any and every way that you can. Be a light in a dark room. That is when you will find truly genuine connections.
