Why stay in one place?
I was born in Cape Town, South Africa and I always knew I wanted to study outside of Africa. My mother had taught me that God created the whole universe so why stay in one place. America was the first place that I wanted to study in because of the influence in media, people shopping with friends and the university life. But I actually went to England first and I am not quite sure why I decided to do so but I just did. Half way through the year I had a breakdown and knew this wasn’t what I wanted to do and was not what God was calling me to do. I left England and went to South Korea. I was intending on studying psychology in Korean there and took Korean language classes. I decided I wanted to pursue my master’s degree in Korea and came back home. At that time, my brother was the age to go to university and my mom suggested that I go with my brother to America since I had always wanted to study in America. I did my research on where to go in America. My mother had prayed and got Seattle as an answer. I am not fond of the sun and prefer rainy and gloomy days. So I searched to see which state had the most rain during the year and I got Ohio and Seattle as my top 2. Since my mom had also said Seattle, I decided to go to Seattle. In Seattle, I wanted to attend a Christian university and Seattle Pacific University had popped up, so here I am.
